SANDY BALL
After retiring from my career as a Dyslexia Consultant and teacher, I began to make jewellery in 2010. I’ve always loved the creative visual arts, wearing jewellery, and the feel and look of silver – so I went to learn silversmith techniques at Trowbridge College and have been creating silver and enamelled pieces ever since. I am constantly learning, and find inspiration from many sources, but mainly from the natural world in all its diversity, and geometrical pattern.
In addition to designing and making silver jewellery, I also create designs on small wooden boxes of various sizes and shapes using decoupage and paint. As well as being very decorative and colourful, the boxes are useful for storing jewellery or any other small items. I love flower, leaf and tree designs but also create bold geometric patterns. The boxes have felt underneath so they don’t scratch surfaces.
I have been involved with Made in Bradford on Avon since 2012, and as well as selling my jewellery, I help with the financial aspects of the project. I have made some good friends there and met some highly creative and talented people!
